PKRA Racing Classes
The following is a list of the current classes being raced at PKRA.
Our primary rule set is NKA, but Club rules supersede any other rules. Examples include Tires, Fuel, minimum Weight, Ages, and that PKRA requires Neck braces for all drivers in all classes. Engine Manufacturer rules cover the specifics of each engine (IAME, Vortex, Rotax, etc.).
Beginning with the 2023 Summer Season, PKRA will use Mojo tires for all 2 cycle classes (2 year contract through April 2025). The 4 cycle karts will continue to use the Hoosier tires (3 year contract through April 2026). Specific sizes and compounds are called out by class below.
Beginning with the 2023 Summer Season, C9 fuel will be required for all classes.
Minor Age Rules:
- Drivers that become 8, 12, or 16 during the calendar year (aka competition age), have the option to move to the next higher class at any time during that calendar year (aka option year).
- Once a driver moves up to the next higher age class in a PKRA club race cannot move back down to a lower age class within Tag or 4-cycle groupings.
- Parents may pettition to get a waiver to move up early. The process starts by making a request to the board at directors@pkra.com.
- Kid Karts must not be on the track with any other classes. Junior 1’s may be on the track with Junior 2’s, but no other classes.

CURRENT CLASSES
These are currently the most popular classes at PKRA and all are eligible for championships except Kid Kart and Novice classes. To become a championship class, they must average at least 5 entrants per race. See the racing schedule for more details.
The Rotax Club class has been retired, and is no longer an option at PKRA.

LEGACY CLASSES – WITH LIMITED RACE PARTICIPATION
You can participate in club races with karts in any of these classes, but be aware that you may be the only one in that class due to the current lack of popularity. You will be grouped with similar class(es), but scored separately.
